2021 we traveled to St. Thomas and St. John as our big trip of the year. That december we closed on our new house so the following spring break we needed to take it easy. Lilly always talks about the St. John trip and I wanted to plan another big island trip for 2023. I looked into Atlantis but the rooms were almost $700 a night for the four of us to be put in a room with two beds. I started searching Airbnb and VRBO for Bahamas options and stumbled upon a beachfront house with a pool in Eleuthera. I had never even heard of Eleuthera before this! I presented it to David and he was like no way! Then after a few drinks on new years eve, I overheard him telling people we were going to the bahamas for spring break so I booked it. Sorry not sorry. Since Eleuthera is a place I had a million questions about I’m going to outline each day and what we did so hopefully other families can find some answers!
The house we rented was the “Shooting Star” from Birds of Paradise Beachfront Cottages off of VRBO but you can also directly rent through their website. They also own the two on either side of it that are studio style and can only have 2 people maximum. Shooting Star has 2 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms. The two bedrooms are king size beds and the there is a futon on the main level. It’s $650 a night and from the VRBO calendar seems to be consistently priced all year long.

I joined the Facebook group Eleuthera Forum before the trip to get ideas and ask questions leading up to the trip. It also became useful while I was there to ask questions I needed immediate answers to! I highly suggest joining this group. The people are super helpful and it’s a good mix of locals, past visitors, people planning their first trips, and people who go yearly.
